Come help us bring modern software to modern science. ROLE OVERVIEW We're looking for Software Engineer interns to join our Summer 2026 intern class in San Francisco. As an intern, you'll be entrusted with a significant degree of ownership to work on either platform and infrastructure or product and application teams. You'll learn to design complex and highly scalable products and systems that will directly impact our customers or other Benchlings!

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in a BS/MS degree in computer science and/or STEM fields with an expected graduation date between Dec 2026 and Summer 2027.
  • A prior software engineering internship or similar experience.
  • Strong abilities in problem solving and iterating on feedback.
  • A desire to have ownership over building key pieces of product and/or platform.

  • Passion for learning about life science.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement backend models and API endpoints for complex scientific workflows.
  • Build and operate rich frontend components and visualizations.
  • Design and build a platform framework or infrastructure tool for other Benchling engineers to use.
