About The Position

We are seeking a talented and motivated Software Engineer, in our San Diego headquarters, to join the tightly integrated technology and drug discovery operation at Iambic Therapeutics. You’ll work closely with scientists across disciplines to ensure experimental data from our laboratory, ranging from biochemical activity assays to pharmacokinetic measurements, is accurately processed, curated, and integrated into our data platform. Your key responsibilities include contributing to the development, testing, and release of software for our drug discovery platform.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree; or 3 years and a master's degree; or a PhD; or equivalent experience in Chemistry or Biology or a related field
  • Strong software and technical skills
  • Python and scientific computing ecosystem (e.g., Pydantic, asyncio, FastAPI, etc.)
  • Can communicate with ML engineers
  • Demonstrates competence and rigor in software development

Nice To Haves

  • PhD in Chemistry or Biology or a related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Work in a cross-functional team that spans the full domain of drug discovery
  • Support a software platform that supports the drug discovery Design-Make-Test-Analyze (DMTA) process
  • Develop and maintain data workflows to parse, validate, and upload experimental data (e.g., ADME, PK, biologic assay data) from lab-generated files such as Excel, CSV, and instrument exports
  • Collaborate with lab scientists to define and model new assays in our data systems, ensuring metadata and measurement structures align with scientific intent
  • Ensure data integrity and consistency through automated validation, schema enforcement, and version-controlled pipelines
  • Implement and maintain Python software and APIs that streamline data ingestion, curation, and accessibility for downstream analysis
  • Work with ML scientists, computational chemists, biologists, and data engineers to improve data readiness for model training and scientific insight
  • Participate in code reviews
  • Clearly communicate work in meetings and company demos, at a level suited to the audience
