About The Position

As a Software Engineer at Applied Materials, you’ll dive deep into ground-breaking technologies—like machine learning and AI—to craft novel software solutions that solve our customers’ high-value problems. Our Software Engineers are responsible for designing, prototyping, developing, and debugging software solutions for semiconductor equipment components and devices to ensure quality and functionality. You'll develop software documentation and test procedures, troubleshoot software problems, and communicate with internal customers to understand project requirements. As part of our team, you'll contribute your expertise in intricate systems, deciphering code, and anticipating software behaviors to ensure Applied remains the leader in the semiconductor and display sectors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in software/system/electrical engineering.
  • 4-7 years of experience in a related field.
  • Proficiency and experience in C#, C/C++, .Net, PLC Programming, Ladder logic, Ethernet IO modules
  • Proficiency Operating Systems, Networking principles. Algorithms, Multi-threading, RPC.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills to lead small projects as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Design or modify electrical or electronic engineering assemblies, layouts, schematics, drawings, or specifications.
  • Identify and troubleshoot a variety of complex electrical problems with limited supervision.
  • Define, coordinate, perform and generate engineering test reports with limited supervision.
  • Technically lead or execute engineering projects, including the development of key suppliers.
  • Generate electrical product specifications; specify and review engineering documentation.
  • Eval and release controllers, network equipment, OS images and IO modules.
  • Serve as a resource for junior colleagues; lead project teams, as needed.
  • Clearly communicate difficult or sensitive information; build consensus.
  • Identify and troubleshoot a variety of difficult engineering problems in field of technical expertise, including serviceability and manufacturability.
  • Support System Integration during the assembly and final testing of new product designs.
  • Support system engineering projects that have a substantial mix of electrical, mechanical, physics, algoithms and software design, and understand the underlying system implications.
  • Design and develop code for complex software solutions for semiconductor equipment components and devices.
  • Develop software documentation and test procedures.
  • Troubleshoot a variety of difficult software problems.
  • Design and implement bug fixes.
  • Define software specifications and test plans for simulators, test benches or the lab.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers for requirement analysis, project schedule and software troubleshooting.
