About The Position

Google Distributed Cloud air-gapped is a new converged hardware/software solution for customers who want the benefits of Google Cloud on premises in disconnected environments. It consists of a full hardware (rack, network switches, compute servers, storage appliances, etc.) and software (operating system, Anthos, Kubernetes, KVM/QEMU, etc.) stack. GDCH offers a number of first-party Google Cloud services (managed and supported by Google) including VMs, Kubernetes Clusters, AI/ML services, databases, and more.

As a software engineer in GDC air-gapped EngProd team, you'll work on design and build tooling and infrastructure to help engineering teams to improve productivity and velocity.The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000-$211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
• 2 years of experience building developer tools (e.g., compilers, automated releases, code design and testing, test automation frameworks).
• Experience in developing software applications using the Go programming language.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
• 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• Experience developing accessible technologies.

Responsibilities

• Write product or system development code.
• Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
• Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
• Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
