About The Position

At Lockheed Martin, our Command and Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) National Team (C2NT) is pioneering the development and integration of cutting-edge technologies to advance the Missile Defense System, safeguarding the United States and its allies. Our collaborative and agile organization operates in a fast-paced environment, driving innovation through tasks such as sensor/weapon integration, algorithm development, user interface development, automated testing, cyber security, enterprise/infrastructure services, and enhancing leading-edge missile defense technologies. The Work The Software Engineer III will design, build, and maintain scalable DevOps solutions and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins) that enable rapid, reliable software delivery for the C2BMC program. Working under general direction, you will develop complex applications in Python, Java, Bash, and PowerShell, implement Infrastructure‑as‑Code and Software‑Defined‑Networking solutions, and create comprehensive documentation for pipelines, architecture, and tooling. You will troubleshoot build‑system and cloud‑environment issues, collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams to improve deployment processes, and produce KPIs and metrics that drive network‑enterprise performance. Availability for critical activities outside normal business hours and occasional travel to alternate sites are required. Please Note: - This position requires a government security clearance; you must be a US Citizen for consideration. - This position is based at a Lockheed Martin facility in Colorado Springs, CO. The role requires flexibility to travel to alternate work locations as needed (valid passport required) Who We Are As leader of the C2BMC team, Lockheed Martin directs a partnership of highly responsive industry leaders developing and fielding the backbone of America’s missile defense. Together, this national team supports the design, development, test, integration and fielding of hardware and software elements that enable the Missile Defense System (MDS) to function effectively and continually. You will also have the opportunity to interface with our key customers in the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) . C2BMC|Lockheed Martin Who You Are You are a motivated engineer with relevant experience and a solid foundation in software development, automation, and networking. You hold an active Secret clearance, are a U.S. citizen with a valid passport, and possess an 8140‑compliant certification (e.g., Security+, GSEC, SSCP). Your communication skills are strong—you can write clear documentation and deliver effective presentations with PowerPoint and Visio. You thrive in collaborative, high‑performing teams, yet can work independently on large‑scale field projects, applying object‑oriented principles, REST API integration, and Git‑based version control.

Requirements

  • Active Secret Security Clearance (U.S. citizen, valid U.S. passport)
  • Experience in software development / DevOps engineering
  • 8140‑compliant certification (Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA, etc.)
  • Ability to travel to alternate work locations for deployments
  • Proficient in Python, Java, Bash, PowerShell, and object‑oriented programming
  • Experience with Git‑based version control (GitLab) and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins)
  • Strong scripting and test‑automation skills
  • Understanding of SDLC, Agile methodologies, and REST API integration
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot moderately complex system/pipeline issues and collaborate across teams

Nice To Haves

  • Active Top‑Secret clearance (preferred)
  • Post‑secondary degree or equivalent training in a related discipline
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; skilled with PowerPoint and Visio
  • Prior experience with C2BMC or related missile‑defense programs
  • KPI development, metric tracking, and reporting expertise
  • Front‑end development (JavaScript/React, TypeScript, HTML, CSS)
  • Cybersecurity fundamentals: vulnerability management, monitoring, remediation
  • Commercial automation tools: Ansible, Terraform, VMware Aria
  • Networking fundamentals and equipment configuration
  • Containerization (Docker) and orchestration concepts (Kubernetes)
  • Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools: Terraform, CloudFormation
  • Exposure to Kubernetes or other container‑orchestration platforms
