About The Position

C.H Robinson is seeking a Software Engineer III to join our Architecture organization’s Tools & Patterns team. The team is responsible for working with Enterprise Architecture in helping implement patterns and technologies for shared components, frameworks, and software templates used by our internal and external software development teams to manage delivering applications across the globe. This team works across our Architecture, Security, DevOps, Infrastructure and application development teams. Our products are critical to driving forward the architectural software direction of C.H. Robinson’s worldwide logistics operations and its continued growth and success. This role can be based only in Minnesota, Chicago and Kansas City

Requirements

  • 3+ years working in a team environment building enterprise level custom software solutions.
  • Strong proficiency in Web UI development with JavaScript/TypeScript using modern frameworks (e.g., React).
  • Experience designing, building, and maintaining REST APIs written in C#, Node.js, Java or comparable software stack.
  • Experience building and using automation tools, CI/CD, unit testing, and promoting a culture of quality software development.
  • Self-motivated; able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Experience building highly scalable, performant software.
  • A mindset of continual learning, growth, and entrepreneurial spirit.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with cloud specific technology (e.g. Azure) for delivering containerized & PaaS software solutions.
  • Focused experience on Front-End Development.
  • Experience with Google’s Material Design System.
  • Experience creating abstractions and tools to be used across development projects.
  • Familiarity with common software development patterns.
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS or related field of study.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the definition of the engineering lifecycle, as well as the definition of best practices.
  • Translate Requirements into detailed design, partnering with Architects and more senior software engineers on the team.
  • Estimate for software development effort including identifying dependent teams and developing code to satisfy complex requirements.
  • Utilize source control features best practices to track and control changes.
  • Increase code quality through writing unit, integration and acceptance tests.
  • Tune performance and resolve availability issues of the products and services the team owns.
  • Collaborate with other Software Engineers and teams on code reviews, development infrastructure, and process enhancements.
  • Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies.
  • Create ongoing value for the application development teams through iterative development/delivery and working on continuous improvement in an Agile environment.
  • Develop and maintain thorough documentation for features.
