About The Position

The Software Engineer III at Rocket Software is responsible for designing, developing, troubleshooting, and debugging the ChangeMan ZMF product, primarily using Assembler on the z/OS platform. This role involves both maintenance and the development of new product features, ensuring high-quality deliverables through various testing methods and collaboration with support teams to resolve customer issues.

Requirements

• 5-10+ years of software engineering experience.
• Expert in Mainframe assembler programming.
• Knowledge of IBM z/OS internals, storage, and file systems (VSAM, zFS, etc.).
• Experience in problem diagnosis, dump reading, and debugging (with IPCS a plus).
• Familiarity with z/OS utilities, JCL, and REXX.
• Software vendor experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug the ChangeMan ZMF product.
• Conduct code reviews and testing of software to ensure quality deliverables.
• Execute various forms of testing including unit, system, regression, integration, performance, and volume testing.
• Work with support teams to diagnose, reproduce, and resolve customer issues.
• Act as the technical subject matter expert for the product domain.
• Quantify and communicate work estimates and risks to direct management.
• Handle multiple competing priorities with minimal direction.
• Break down larger stories and features into manageable tasks.
• Ensure all tasks are completed thoroughly, tested, documented, and meet quality standards.
• Participate in internal projects and other work as directed.
