At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight! This role is part of Advanced Concepts and Enterprise Engineering (ACE), supporting Blue Origin’s mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. The team fosters innovation and drives engineering workflows of the future, shared solutions and standards, simplicity and lower costs, and manufacturable design. As part of a hardworking team of engineers, you will drive development and deployment of software tooling with a focus on the space environment. Your work will span both analysis tooling and hardware prototype/test tooling. Experience with Generative AI for test data analysis is a major plus, and passion for our mission and vision is absolutely required!

  • Define and update hardware integration test code for various pieces of test hardware.
  • Build upon our common software architecture, writing new libraries and optimizing test code within our team.
  • Participate in hardware demos utilizing LabVIEW and Python code, craft additions to our frameworks, and develop user interfaces.
  • Drive and oversee use of test systems during tests at external test facilities.
  • Engage directly with analysis and test engineers to help eliminate barriers, speed up their development cycle, and maintain overall software quality.
  • Follow best practices, develop new tools, and maintain relentlessly high standards for software development infrastructure.
  • Own the continued development of proprietary Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) software.
  • B.S. degree in Computer Science or Computer/Electrical Engineering. Other engineering or science degrees or work history will be considered if experience in above responsibilities is met
  • 5+ years of experience in software development, ideally for test systems (Ex: LabVIEW, Python, or similar), with knowledge of object-oriented design, test automation, and software component development
  • Experience with the following: Designing simple, custom hardware drivers for electronic test hardware (oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, etc.)
  • Build, test, and deployment automation
  • 2+ years of experience with Real-Time systems and software development (LinuxRT & Phar-Lap)
  • Proficiency with the following programming languages, platforms, and protocols: Python, C/C++, Gitlab, SQL, I2C, SPI, VHDL or Verilog
  • Experience with the following: AI frameworks and tools (e.g., Langchain, TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, LLMs)
  • Configuring and utilizing Generative AI for data analysis
  • National Instruments hardware and development (TestStand sequence development, user interfaces, process model customization, and LabVIEW API)
  • Actor Framework, unit testing, validation, code reuse, advanced architectures, hardware, and software abstraction layers
  • LabVIEW Real-Time, FPGA, and application deployment
  • Working with electrical control systems and industrial sensors and actuators: pressure, temperature, LVDT, bridge, accelerometers, and motion/servo controllers
  • Working in a test environment
  • National Instruments certification in LabVIEW development: CLD, CLA, CLED, or Professional Instructor
  • Project management experience, delivering results on-time and on-budget
