The Google Home Camera team is looking for an Android Engineer to help build the
next generation of smart home security experiences. In this role, you will be
responsible for developing and launching high-visibility features that allow
millions of users to monitor their homes in real-time. You will work within a
modern Android stack (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose) to build responsive, performant,
and accessible interfaces. This is an ideal role for an engineer who is
passionate about mobile craftsmanship, performance optimization, and creating
seamless user experiences for complex hardware-integrated software.

The Google Home team focuses on hardware, software and services offerings for
the home, ranging from thermostats to smart displays. The Home team researches,
designs, and develops new technologies and hardware to make users’ homes more
helpful. Our mission is the helpful home: to create a home that cares for the
people inside it and the world around it.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with Android application development.
• 2 years of experience with software development in Kotlin programming language.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
• 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• Experience developing accessible technologies.
• Experience working with Camera and Video.

Responsibilities

• Write product or system development code.
• Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
• Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
• Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
