This role is part of Enterprise Technology (ET), where we’re developing the digital infrastructure needed to build the road to space, with an emphasis on digital capabilities required to advance Blue Origin’s mission. Enterprise Technology is the center of excellence for digital technology at Blue Origin, providing oversight and governance to align technology and business strategies. We are looking for a Software Development Engineer with a strong focus on Front End to join the Enterprise Technology Transformation team. You will work with architects, engineers, and product managers to design and build modern, data-intensive user interfaces while also contributing to the design and implementation of the supporting backend services and APIs. You will apply your expertise in modern front-end architecture and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required! We seek engineers who enjoy tackling complex data visualization challenges, building reusable component libraries, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Aerospace experience is not required! You will have full ownership of engineering challenges and collaborate with fellow engineers. The success of the mission at Blue Origin depends on the software that you and your team will build.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or a scientific discipline; OR 2+ years of professional experience building software in lieu of a degree.
• Proven experience in software engineering with a heavy focus on front-end development (e.g., building complex SPAs or enterprise-grade web apps).
• Proficiency in using LLMs to accelerate software development and UI code generation.

Nice To Haves

• Expert-level knowledge of modern frameworks (specifically React) and JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Knowledge of web performance optimization techniques (lazy loading, caching strategies, bundle size reduction).
• Familiarity with consuming and designing RESTful APIs and understanding how front-end architecture integrates with micro-services.
• Backend Lite: Professional experience with at least one backend language (e.g. Python, Java, Go, Rust).
• Data Layer: Understanding REST/GraphQL API design and experience with SQL or NoSQL databases.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and containerization tools like Docker.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to bridge the gap between technical constraints and user experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop modern, high-fidelity, data-intensive web applications used across Blue Origin to streamline business and manufacturing operations.
• Own the full feature development lifecycle, including prototyping, front-end development, API contract definition, basic backend integration logic, production deployment and monitoring.
• Optimize application performance for complex, data-heavy interfaces, ensuring low latency and high availability.
• Partner with Product Managers and UX Designers to translate user needs into efficient, accessible technical solutions.
• Lead front-end code reviews and advocate for best practices in CSS architecture, state management, and testing.
