About The Position

Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change

Our team builds the auction infrastructure for Search Ads which serves as the
backbone of many auction mechanism and ads product innovations, at Google Search
scale.

As a Software Engineer, you will be exposed to not only critical backend
infrastructure work where you strive for a agile and fast auction infra, but
also auction mechanisms, and the latest product explorations in Search
advertising in the era of AI through collaborations with our partner teams.

We’re made up of multiple teams, building Google’s Advertising products
including search, display, shopping, travel and video advertising, as well as
analytics. Our teams create trusted experiences between people and businesses
with useful ads. We help grow businesses of all sizes from small businesses, to
large brands, to YouTube creators, with effective advertiser tools that deliver
measurable results. We also enable Google to engage with customers at scale.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience programming in C++.
• 2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
• 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• Experience developing accessible technologies.

Responsibilities

• Write product or system development code.
• Develop auction backend in C++ to build an agile auction framework that supports various needs including mechanism and ads UI, with a focus on text ads and whole page auction.
• Evaluate the impact of changes through experimentation, data analysis and other tools.
• Participate in technical discussions and designs to build a high quality infrastructure, reduce tech debt and improve code health.
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
