The Software Engineer II at SUNY Westchester Community College plays a crucial role in the development and maintenance of the college's software systems. This position is integral to supporting applications that enhance student success, focusing on areas such as college readiness, enrollment management, retention, and completion. The incumbent will be responsible for troubleshooting end-user problems and providing effective solutions, ensuring that the software systems are user-friendly and efficient. In this role, the Software Engineer II will analyze end-user needs, document requirements, and translate these into appropriate system design specifications. The position requires the application of suitable life cycle methodologies to ensure that software development processes are followed correctly. The incumbent will also be tasked with developing and maintaining computer objects, classes, methods, and application packages, as well as creating queries and reports to support data analysis and decision-making. Additionally, testing applications, databases, and software upgrades will be a key responsibility to ensure the integrity and performance of the systems in use. This is a Civil Service position, and the final candidate will be required to take and pass the Civil Service Exam.
