About The Position

Our Air Traffic Solutions - Software Engineering Department (ATS-SED) has immediate early-career opportunities for talented Software Engineers to join a team of 120+ Software Engineers that are developing and supporting our several Air Traffic Control Systems worldwide, such as: STARS, NWP, AutoTrac, Australia, India, Hong Kong. Our programs are safety-of-life air traffic management systems we have developed for the FAA and international equivalents for use by air traffic controllers controlling civil and military aviation. The focus of the Software Engineer 2 position is to be an active team member to support development, integration and testing operational software components during all phases of the software lifecycle. Requirements

  • Requires a Master’s degree and 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Agile/Scrum familiarity
  • Knowledge of continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), and automated testing concepts with Test Driven Development (TDD) concepts
  • Experience with commercial or open-source test automation tools, environments, and frameworks
  • Familiar with Networking Protocols SNMP, TDP/IP and other protocols
  • Knowledge of Python, SQL, bash/ksh scripting and command line usage
  • Flexibility and desire in learning new COTS, tools, processes, or methodologies
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, including formal presentations
  • C/C++ Programming language in a Unix/Linux development environment and command line usage.
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft products and tools.
  • Experience in SW testing and debugging source code
  • Experience with ClearCase/ClearQuest, Jira, and GIT configuration management tools.
  • Experience working in a collaborative team environment that requires multi-level communication with other engineering, program, and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Make complex fixes to solve problems or create significant enhancements with guidance from Subject Matter Experts in the Air Traffic Control (ATC) Product Line software.
  • Update SW process documentation and work instructions needed to meet ATS SED’s high maturity level software engineering standards and processes.
  • Participate in agile processes and procedures to improve daily standups, sprint planning, sprint feature development, retrospectives, back log grooming and story pointing while using Atlassian tool suite.
  • Work with the software team and leadership in a highly collaborative team environment, requiring frequent multi-level communication with other engineering domain team members, program management and external stakeholders.
