About The Role & Team The PLG + Growth Platform team is a high-impact, cross-functional group within Amplitude’s Product Adoption org. We build the backend systems that power how Amplitude grows — from how new products are launched to how customers discover, try, and upgrade them. Our work isn’t internal plumbing. We design and maintain the infrastructure that shapes how customers experience value: what they can access, how trials are delivered, how usage is tracked, and how monetization flows through the platform. These systems directly influence adoption, upgrade paths, and revenue. This is a backend-leaning full-stack role on a team that collaborates closely with PM, Design, GTM, and other engineering groups. You’ll own meaningful slices of the platform, influence architecture, and ship capabilities that other teams depend on — and that customers feel every day through entitlements, packaging, and upgrade flows. If you want to work on the engine behind product-led growth, drive company-wide impact, and increase your ownership and autonomy, this role is for you.

Requirements

  • Have 2–4 years of experience building and maintaining production backend or full-stack systems
  • Are comfortable designing and implementing APIs, services, and data models
  • Write clean, maintainable code in JavaScript or TypeScript and think deeply about reliability and edge cases
  • Can take a loosely defined problem and drive it toward a shipped solution
  • Communicate clearly across disciplines and keep stakeholders aligned as work evolves
  • Enjoy thinking in systems, abstractions, and long-term maintainability
  • Care about unlocking product growth, not just writing technically correct code
  • Thrive in fast-moving environments and bring a bias toward iteration and ownership

Nice To Haves

  • Have experience with Node.js backend systems at scale
  • Have built GraphQL schemas or understand how to design effective data-fetching layers
  • Are familiar with React.js and comfortable contributing full-stack when needed
  • Have worked on infrastructure for growth — packaging, entitlements, trials, monetization, experimentation
  • Enjoy diving into ambiguous or cross-team problems and creating clarity
  • Use AI tools not just to type faster, but to explore ideas, validate assumptions, and reason more boldly
  • Have strong product intuition and enjoy connecting technical decisions to business outcomes
  • Are motivated by building systems that many internal teams rely on

Responsibilities

  • Design and build backend services and APIs using Node.js, TypeScript, SQL, and GraphQL
  • Own mid-sized projects end-to-end — from shaping requirements through launch — with guidance but not hand-holding
  • Drive improvements to systems that power pricing, packaging, trials, entitlements, and monetization
  • Collaborate across Engineering, Product, and Design to deliver reliable, user-impacting infrastructure
  • Build instrumentation and internal tooling to help us measure what’s working and unlock faster iteration
  • Improve the reliability, scalability, and clarity of our core growth systems
  • Contribute to architectural discussions and help evolve the platform as our products grow
  • Use AI tools to accelerate your workflow while grounding decisions in actual system understanding
  • Raise the bar for code quality, testing, and long-term maintainability

  • Mental health and wellness benefits including no cost employee access to Modern Health coaching & therapy Sessions and high quality physician office experience via One Medical membership (select U.S. locations only)
