Just look up. Are you ready to go beyond? Pratt & Whitney, an RTX Company is looking for a Software Engineer to join our Real-Time Test Systems Software (RTSS) team. This individual will work closely with a team of software engineers in the delivery of developing, enhancing, and implementing software solutions within the RTSS Portfolio, as well as integrations with other Pratt & Whitney products. These software solutions will maintain functionality and enhance features for performance integrated data acquisition and control software (ICADS) systems that are used for production and development engine test.

  • Design, develop, and optimize the integrated data acquisition and control system to meet real-time performance constraints while following coding standards and best practices.
  • Develop data acquisition pipelines to ensure the software meets strict real-time performance requirements, including determinism, low-latency computation, and efficient memory management.
  • Develop, debug, and optimize software on Linux, including developing low-level drivers and hardware interfaces.
  • Develop and maintain scripts in Bash/Python for automation, DevOps pipeline enhancements, data handling, and system control.
  • Experience interfacing with hardware using various protocols (e.g. TCP, UDP, Modbus, CAN, ARINC, VME).
  • Lead all phases of software development, including requirements gathering, architecture design, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Work closely with customers, stakeholders, and developers to understand system needs, troubleshoot issues, enhance user experience, socialize designs, and integrate changes as appropriate with rapid iterations.
  • Develop test cases and leverage static/dynamic analysis tools for verifying real-time performance, ensuring signal integrity, identifying potential issues, diagnosing issues, and resolving defects.
  • Create project/technical documentation and ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM.
  • 2 years of software engineering experience or an advanced degree in STEM with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Extensive experience with C, C++, SQL, Bash, Python for both UI and real-time system development.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux system programming, performance profiling, networking, and command-line tools for troubleshooting.
  • Experience developing software with strict real-time constraints.
  • Experience working with turbomachinery sensors, thermocouples, pressure sensors, ADCs, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, power supplies, and signal generators.
