Our Battle Management Software Department is looking for software engineers to support development, test, and other tasks throughout a software life cycle for aircraft embedded software applications. The aircraft operating system interfaces with several avionics systems including displays, navigation, and mission planning. This challenging work requires strong problem-solving skills and the desire to learn from and work with world class Engineers. What You Will Do The Software Engineer I uses and provides creative solutions to complex technical system and software integration problems. The Software Engineer I works closely with Systems Engineers to design ideal solutions with the end user and operational needs in mind. Raytheon Software Engineers support all aspects of a software development life cycle as members of a multi-disciplined team. This would include supporting new and legacy military and commercial programs from concept and requirements, to design, development, integration, test, and potentially subsequent maintenance tasking.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related (STEM) discipline.
  • This position requires 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
  • Strong Analytical skills
  • Developing and testing software using C, C++, C#, Java or closely related software languages
  • Developing software in a Windows environment
  • Working knowledge in computer scripting language such as Shell/Perl/Python
  • Understanding of software systems design, integration, and management
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using a Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS), e.g., Linux, Green Hills (GH) Integrity, VxWorks, or other
  • Ada software development experience
  • Experience in Unix/Linux computing environments
  • Experience with embedded avionics and displays
  • Experience using software optimization techniques and timing analysis to ensure real-time operation and synchronization of software products
  • Working knowledge in the development and integration of software drivers for the operation of computer hardware interfaces
  • Working knowledge in common computer hardware interface and data protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, RS-422, USB, PCI, and 1553
  • Proficiency utilizing software debugging tools to troubleshoot software implementation and ensure integrity of the software products
  • Experience developing requirements for software products
  • Understanding of computer architecture and computer hardware optimization techniques
  • Working knowledge of Software Configuration Management principles environments and tools
  • Working knowledge and experience with configuration management tools such as Git
  • Working knowledge and experience in an Agile development environment using Azure DevOps or equivalent
  • Parallel programming principles and processes for technical computing environments
  • Familiarity with DO-178C DAL C software development life cycle development and processes
  • Able to work closely in a multi-discipline team daily
