Join us as a Software Engineer I and help us do what we do best: propelling business forward. This will be a hybrid role so working between your home office and our Burlington MA headquarters. We are looking for an entry-level Software Engineer (SWE I) to join the OpenEdge Core Platform team at Progress Software. This role is an excellent opportunity for a motivated early-career engineer to learn how a large-scale, mission-critical enterprise platform is built, maintained, and modernized. As an SWE I, you will work closely with senior and principal engineers, product managers, and architects to contribute to the evolution of the OpenEdge core language, runtime, and supporting platform components. You will gain hands-on experience with systems-level development, legacy code modernization, quality and security practices, and modern development tooling—all while being supported by structured mentoring and leverage AI-assisted development tools to enhance productivity and code quality. OpenEdge powers thousands of mission-critical business applications worldwide. This role is part of a long-term investment in growing the next generation of platform engineers, ensuring continuity, modernization, and innovation as the platform evolves. You will be joining a team that values mentorship, learning, and craftsmanship, and you will have a clear growth path toward Software Engineer II and Senior Engineer roles.
