About The Position

As a Software Engineer I, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software applications and systems. You will work under the guidance of senior engineers and managers to build high-quality, innovative, and performant software that complies with coding standards and technical design.

Requirements

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or other related fields Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum: Up to 2 years experience in programming in one or more industry-standard languages (e.g., Java, Python, Go, C++, JavaScript).
  • Minimum: Experienced in programming in one or more industry-standard languages (e.g., Java, Python, Go, C++, JavaScript).
  • Knowledgeable in leveraging various data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
  • Familiar with relational databases, NoSQL, and caching solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication abilities.
  • Capable of working independently on simple tasks.
  • Ability to collaborate and influence team members to address impediments and deliver desired results.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred: Master’s Degree in Computer Science.
  • Preferred: 6 or more months of experience in Java.
  • Preferred: 6 or more months of experience in Javascript.
  • Preferred: Exposure to Microservices.
  • Preferred: Exposure to CI/CD pipeline.
  • Preferred: Exposure to Cassandra.
  • Preferred: Exposure to GitHub.
  • Preferred: Experience in developing RESTful services.
  • Preferred: Good understanding of Java Design Patterns.
  • Preferred: Exposure to message queues.
  • Preferred: Exposure to Mockito Unit Tests.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a strong understanding of relevant product areas, codebases, and systems.
  • Write high-quality code for simple scenarios with good test coverage.
  • Assist with any application system support needs.
  • Participate in design and code reviews of applications to ensure best practices, adherence to Mercury standards, and high quality.
