The Protected Communication Systems (PCS) Software (SW) Engineering Department has an opportunity for a talented Software Engineer to join our team. This position is primarily onsite at our Largo, FL location. As a Software Engineer I, you will participate on collaborative, cross-disciplined integrated product teams, often employing agile software development techniques. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of product development, from architecture and design, through integration, test, and field support. This role offers the opportunity to work and learn in an engineering organization with the highest software engineering process maturity level, providing exposure to various development environments and tools, and collaboration with a dynamic group of engineers from a variety of disciplines. This experience will complement your education and past work experience and potentially lead to a long-term career at Collins Aerospace.

  • Participate on collaborative, cross-disciplined integrated product teams.
  • Employ agile software development techniques.
  • Responsible for the full lifecycle of product development, from architecture and design, through integration, test, and field support.
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree and 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Experience in Software Engineering including working various phases of the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience with Software Development using C/C++, JAVA, JavaScript, HTML5, and/or CSS.
  • Familiarity with full-stack development (GUI, back-end services, middleware).
  • Familiarity with developing applications using communication protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP, HTTPS, RTP, SIP).
  • Working knowledge of Windows, Linux, VxWorks or other Real time operating systems.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python.
  • Familiarity with DevOps, Jenkins and automated testing.
  • Exposure to Model Driven Development.
  • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS), embedded programming, processor/board architecture and design.
  • Understanding of standard system engineering design artifacts such as Use Cases and SysML diagrams.
  • Familiarity with Unified Modeling Language (UML) and Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOA/D).
  • Familiarity with Agile lifecycle process including Scrum, Continuous Integration, and Test-Driven Development Methodologies.
  • Exposure to Microservice Architectures and Containerized Applications.
  • Familiarity with software integration on custom hardware.
