Collins Aerospace is currently seeking qualified candidates for entry level Software Engineer I roles in our Military Avionics Flight Management department located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Teams are comprised of cross-functional engineers working in an AGILE environment (approximately 6-10 people) focused on the design and development of flight management software applications. This position may require the commitment of professional working hours that may require the employee to extend beyond a typical 7:30am to 4:30pm workday, or beyond a 40-hour work week. Product Summary: CAAS/Flight 2 Flight Management Solutions - Our signature products for Military Avionics as part of the Collins Integrated Avionics System, fielded on thousands of aircraft today, at this moment. Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years prior relevant experience.
  • Experience with C, C++, ADA, and/or Python.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance (Classified as a US Person) if needed after day 1.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to draft Software Requirements
  • Pilot/Avionics Experience (i.e. Private Pilot, Aircraft Maintenance, DO-178 Certification)

Responsibilities

  • Work within a team of Systems and Software engineers to design, develop, and test software features for flight management systems that are integrated into military helicopters and planes.
  • Grow your knowledge of Software Engineering and Flight Management Systems.
  • Integrate soft skills (leadership, communication, coordination, proactiveness) into a dynamic environment that provides quality and timely products to internal and external customers.
  • Travel (domestic and international <10%) as needed.
