RTX is seeking a highly motivated Software Engineer I to support the Patriot Software Program, focusing on Patriot software integration, tactical software disk creation, and testing. The successful candidate will work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, contributing to the development and integration of cutting-edge defense systems. This role provides the opportunity to work hands-on with mission-critical software and hardware in a state-of-the-art lab environment. As a part of the Patriot Software team, you will help ensure the delivery of high-quality, reliable software that powers one of the most advanced air and missile defense systems in the world.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM field.
  • This position requires 12 months or less of professional experience (excluding internships).
  • Experience with software programming languages such as C++, C, or Python (academic or professional).
  • Familiarity with software testing methodologies and tools.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with hardware/software integration in a lab setting.
  • Knowledge of real-time operating systems (RTOS) or embedded systems.
  • Experience in a Unix/Linux operating system.
  • Familiarity with Patriot missile systems or similar defense systems.
  • Prior experience with version control systems(e.g., Artifactory) and defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira).
  • Exposure to military standards or defense-related software projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform software integration and testing in a lab environment to validate the functionality and reliability of Patriot software.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems engineers, software developers, and test engineers, to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve software issues.
  • Develop and execute test procedures and test cases to validate system requirements.
  • Analyze test results and document findings to identify system performance and functionality gaps.
  • Support the development of automated test scripts to streamline the integration and testing process.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical documentation, including test plans, procedures, reports., and drawing pages.
  • Work under the direction of senior engineers while gaining hands-on experience in software development and testing methodologies.
