About The Position

Clear Street is modernizing the brokerage ecosystem. Founded in 2018, Clear Street is a diversified financial services firm replacing the legacy infrastructure used across capital markets. We started from scratch by building a completely cloud-native clearing and custody system designed for today’s complex, global market. Our platform is fully integrated with central clearing houses and exchanges to support billions in trading volume per day. We’ve agonized about our data model abstractions, created horizontal scalability, and crafted thoughtful APIs. All so we can provide a best-in-class experience for our clients. By combining highly-skilled product and engineering talent with seasoned finance professionals, we’re building the essentials to compete in today’s fast-paced markets. As a Full-Stack Engineer on the Studio AI team, you’ll be responsible for facilitating AI-user interaction in our new Studio trading platform. Most of your time will go into cross-cutting React/TypeScript UI that embeds AI across workflows, as well as backend service work to enable those features. While AI is the primary focus, we contribute to and support the broader Studio platform and occasionally take on other product work where it moves the needle.

Requirements

3–6 years of software engineering experience building data-heavy production web apps.
Strong proficiency with React and TypeScript, including state management and data grids.
Built streaming, low-latency experiences over WebSockets or like technologies.
Proficiency in either enterprise Java or Python.
Familiarity with LLMs, both for building client-facing features and for powering development

Nice To Haves

Delivered user-facing features powered by LLMs.
Experience in financial services, especially real-time trading systems.

Responsibilities

Ship responsive AI UX: streaming suggestions, autocomplete, inline assistants, notifications, and guided workflows.
Integrate with LLM endpoints and tools. Gracefully handle retries, timeouts, and fallbacks.
Design and consume REST/gRPC APIs; add or modify backend services to support AI features (session state, prompts, permissions, audit).
Implement telemetry and product feedback loops for UX iteration as well as model improvement.
Collaborate across designers, platform, and stakeholders to scope, prioritize, and ship high ROI features
Deploy and operate services on AWS/Kubernetes; participate in code reviews and CI/CD improvements.
