About The Position

We are Lockheed Martin Lockheed Martin Aeronautics in Marietta, Georgia is seeking a full-time Software Engineer for its Flight Test team. This is a full life cycle software development role. You will gather requirements, design, develop, integrate, maintain, and document software tools/processes supporting the flight test data processing tool suite which is used by all Aeronautics flight test programs. You will support a variety of software —computational intensive applications, I/O intensive, database design and interface, and multiple GUI applications. The core processing tools operate on very large, complex, and differently formatted datasets recorded on-board test aircraft, recorded in simulation labs, and transmitted in real-time from the aircraft to a ground station. Candidate will utilize and interface software to specialized digital electronic systems, data processing systems, and other methods to accomplish the recovery, computation, and display of flight test data. Candidate will interface with other technical personnel in the diagnosis and resolution of any problems (hardware/software) encountered in the recovery of test data utilizing various data systems including PCM ground stations, telemetry ground stations, specialized data processing equipment, etc. This position requires frequent travel and odd-shift work on an as necessary basis. Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering with an emphasis on software development.
  • Extensive and demonstrated experience programming with C++.
  • Experience with Windows operating systems.
  • Experience with Oracle and/or PostgreSQL databases.
  • Experience with software development environments, particularly Visual Studio.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with other languages/scripts (C, C#, Windows batch scripts, TCL/TK, SQL, Python).
  • Experience with Windows OS Administration.
  • Experience with Web Development Technologies.
  • Experience with Video protocols and compression.
  • Experience with MATLAB.
  • Experience with Curtiss-Wright / Teletronics (TTC) and Safran / Zodiac vendor hardware and software.
  • Experience with Networking / Network Monitoring / Ethernet messaging / Wireshark.
  • Familiarity with aircraft avionics bus protocols including MilStd-1553, ARINC-429, IEEE 1394, Ethernet and Fiber Channel.
  • Familiarity with flight test instrumentation protocols and standards (PCM, IRIG 106).
  • Familiarity with flight test instrumentation analog and digital transducers.
  • Experience with programming/operating aircraft solid state/magnetic media recorders.
  • Experience with Big Data Analytics.
  • Familiarity with GPS and IRIG time standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment.
  • Must be willing to travel.
