The Flight Controls and Autonomy team is currently seeking highly motivated technology pioneers with a desire to steer and lead the Autonomy industry. Successful candidates must be willing and able to work on highly complex challenging problems, leading to world-changing technological breakthroughs. Team’s technical areas of emphasis include Fly-By-Wire Flight Control Systems, Guidance/Navigation & Control (GNC), Flight Test, Autonomy, Aviation Robotics, Perception, AI and Motion Planning. The Autonomy Software Engineering Intern will work closely with autonomy team to design, analyze, implement and test software algorithms and systems enabling optionally-piloted rotorcraft flight capable of navigating to specific goal points while avoiding obstacles, evaluating terrain for safe landing zones, building contingency plans, and performing continuous surveillance. The primary technology focus areas will be perception, planning, and system infrastructure. The engineer will work in a fast pace development environment while additionally developing plans to mature and transition systems to real-time, embedded environments. Must be a US Citizen.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a B.S. in Computer Science, Computer, Software or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent field
  • Robotics Experience: Academic or extracurricular experience with robotics, including sensor integration or robot functionality programming.
  • Programming Proficiency: in Python and C++ is highly desired, with experience in Object-Oriented Design and Systems Programming.
  • Embedded & Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with Assembly, memory management, or containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Virtual Machines).
  • Development Tools: Proficiency with version control workflows using Git, GitHub, or GitLab.
  • Must be a US Citizen.

Nice To Haves

  • AI/ML Frameworks: Experience with machine learning libraries and frameworks, such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar tools.
  • Data Structures: Strong understanding of algorithms and data structures (e.g., sorting, trees, lists) for efficient software performance.
