About The Position

Software Engineer–DevSecOps (Experienced or Senior) Company: The Boeing Company The Boeing Company is currently seeking Software Engineers–DevSecOps to support our Boeing Software Factory (BSF) Platform team. This role supports the Boeing Software Engineering Fabric organization and is based in Berkeley, Missouri; Colorado Springs, Colorado; Fairfax, Virginia; or Huntington Beach, California. BSF-Disconnected team designs, builds, and operates secure, scalable platform capabilities that accelerate software delivery across classified environments in cloud and on-premises. This hands‑on role focuses on designing and implementing cloud‑native platform services, infrastructure automation, and CI/CD pipelines, leveraging modern platform engineering practices to improve delivery velocity and system resilience. We are looking for a proactive, security‑minded engineer with strong platform and DevSecOps experience who can deliver practical, scalable solutions for constrained and classified environments. Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Experienced and Senior Level Software Engineers.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in hands on programming such as Python, C/C++, Java or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps principles, CI/CD process and code delivery pipeline, using tools like GitLab & Jenkins
  • 5+ years of experience in building platform using API based micro services (i.e. REST API) and classified platform security best practices.
  • 3+ years of experience with developing and deploying containerized applications using Kubernetes (i.e. Helm).
  • 5+ years of experience with development and administration in Linux systems in virtualized environments (CentOS and RHEL is a plus)
  • This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • Level 3: 3 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Level 4: 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of experience in large-scale software and system architecture, including distributed systems and cloud-native design on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Prior experience deploying to air‑gapped or constrained environments, including classified environments.
  • Self-motivator, starter and results driven mindset
  • Strong familiarity with Linux and shell scripting (bash).
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code and configuration management (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
  • Experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms.
  • Experience managing virtualized hardware and hypervisors (e.g., VMware, KVM).

Responsibilities

  • Partner with cross-enterprise security, compliance, and product teams to align platform capabilities with NIST, FedRAMP, and other regulatory frameworks for mission‑critical applications.
  • Collaborate with technical chiefs, lead engineers, and software teams to standardize patterns, harden runtimes, and improve observability across Kubernetes, containerized workloads, air‑gapped environments, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Mentor engineers, shape architecture, and improve platform reliability, cost efficiency, and operations through automation, infrastructure as code, and testing.
  • Enable the Software Enterprise to adopt best practices, standards, and initiatives for efficient, high‑quality execution.
  • Support and deploy air‑gapped programs, building and upgrading configurations and applications for constrained environments.
  • Implement automated deployment and testing solutions following leading DevOps and security practices.
  • Research and recommend technologies to enhance BSF air‑gapped deployments.
  • Integrate tools for security scanning, SBOM generation, secrets management, audit logging and compliance checks suitable for classified systems.
  • Plan and execute cross‑functional initiatives with internal teams, external partners, and vendors.
