About The Position

The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Mid-Level Software Engineer- Developer to support our Virtual Warfare Center (VWC) team located in Seal Beach, CA and Colorado Springs, CO. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) business organization. This position will primarily support and develop VWC Web Applications as well as support the Space Operations Analysis teams in both Seal Beach, CA and Colorado Springs, CO. The VWC is seeking a full stack developer that can provide website analysis, development, planning and implementation, problem solving, user training, and support for the VWC Website and Space Sim applications. We use many development tools and technologies, including C#, JavaScript, Node.js, React, MySQL, and Microsoft SQL. We are looking for a web developer that can customize development for our products, while also augmenting the skill set of our organization which is dispersed across the US. Our analysts use high-performance computing (HPC), artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and other data analytics to provide recommendations to our customers and as a software developer will need to support these technologies. The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in both Windows and Linux, a solid understanding of modern web applications, and be able to communicate effectively with highly technical users on a wide range of technical topics. This person needs to have the ability to assess user feedback, rapidly tailor user interface functionality to meet client needs, and modify application code with business logic. This person will need to be a hands-on contributor in a fast-paced agile environment, must have a passion for web development, and be a strong communicator. This person will also need to have the ability to modify both front and back-end application code during the implementation phases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline experience or 13 years’ related relevant work experience
  • 5 years of experience in C#, JavaScript, Node.js, React, MySQL, and Microsoft SQL
  • 5 years of experience as a full stack web developer
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret/SCI Clearance Post-Start is required.
  • This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of modeling and simulation standards like DIS or HLA (bonus)
  • Knowledge of the Space Domain and communication networks
  • Knowledge of host environments, including processors, operating systems and networks.
  • Ability to build, integrate and troubleshoot software components.
  • Knowledge of software development processes in compliance with established internal and industry standards, guidelines, and best practices in the development, testing, and deployment of software.

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews, analyzes, and translates customer requirements into initial design of software products.
  • Designs, codes and unit tests front and back-end solutions for integrated systems using packages such as C#, JavaScript, Node.js, React, MySQL, and Microsoft SQL.
  • Develops, maintains, enhances, and optimizes code to connect and interface systems and services.
  • Ability to rapidly prototype/mock-up solution design, look, and feel.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves issues identified to ensure the reliability and efficiency of software products.
  • Document all developed solutions.
  • Analyze user feedback against current system designs/requirements and solutions system updates that reflect that feedback accordingly.
  • Advise on software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations.
