Throughout the program, co-ops will meet with our executive leadership team, network with employees, and participate in community outreach. We are devoted to finding, selecting, and training co-ops who will make a positive impact on our company while offering a full learning experience. Our co-ops will work alongside a lean, proven team of technology and risk professionals, gaining technical and analytical skills. CIBC’s Spring Co-op program runs from January to June and the Fall Co-op runs from July to December. During this time, you will have access to training opportunities, mentorship, and leadership support. Our leaders are invested in your success during your co-op. Our goal is to ensure you have all tools necessary to take advantage of the robust opportunities at hand, resulting in a great co-op experience. Please note: this position is located in our Chicago office on a hybrid in-person schedule.

Requirements

  • Education: Currently enrolled at Northeastern University. Computer Science and/or Engineering majors are preferred, while other majors may be considered
  • Foundational knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C++, C#), databases and data structures
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in collaborative teams to achieve organizational goals, and passionate about building an innovative culture
  • Emerging knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
  • In touch with industry wide technology trends and best practices
  • 3.5 GPA minimum
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask
  • To be eligible for this position, you must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Join our technology team and work directly with software developers to design, build, test, and maintain applications
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to assist in design and development of applications
  • Work toward continuous improvement in application performance and stability
  • Assist in discovering, evaluating, and implementing technologies in an effort to maximize user experience and efficiency
  • Assist in performing testing to measure the quality of software; ensure the quality meets standards
  • Assist in Agile/Scrum development and application support
  • Write technical specifications and technical documentation; translate business requirements into functional specifications.
