Purpose of Position Performs assignments designed to develop knowledge and abilities in all aspects of aircraft simulation software.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree or Certificate in Software Engineering.
  • 0-2 years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • FORTRAN and/or C++ required.
  • Basic High Level programming skills with real time applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Ada desired.
  • Knowledge of operating systems such as Microsoft Windows, UNIX, Linux, and Concurrent is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and becomes familiar with simulator engineering specifications, malfunction documents, flight manuals, maintenance manuals, aircraft wiring diagrams, aircraft characteristics, and aircraft data.
  • Gains working knowledge of all standard navigation/visual simulation software and its interaction with other disciplines such as flight, engines, systems and autoflight software.
  • Performs an analysis of the avionics functions that are to be simulated.
  • Prepares Customer Test Guide under supervision of an experienced simulation engineer. This C.T.G. will be used to verify that the simulation satisfies the simulator specification requirements.
  • Prepares math models, flow charts, and simulation source code as required by the aircraft simulator specification.
  • Performs standardized procedures to verify that the design meets the requirements of the customer test guide.
  • Presents and demonstrates the simulator operation to the customer and corrects deficiencies identified by the customer. This may include working at customer facilities.
  • Develops graphical representations of aircraft avionics.
  • Works with software and hardware colleagues, project engineers and others to smoothly and efficiently effect an integrated total simulation.
  • Travel, shift work, and special work hours may be required to accomplish some of the above tasks.
