About The Position

The Software Engineer will work with a massively parallel enterprise platform, built with Java on Free and Open-Source Software products including Kubernetes, Hadoop and Accumulo, to enable execution of data-intensive analytics on a managed infrastructure The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated Java developer who proactively completes tasks with a strong attention to detail The ideal candidate should be skilled in Java, database technologies (MariaDB, MySQL Postgres etc.) and have some experience with Map Reduce programming model and technologies (such as Hadoop, Hive, Pig, etc.)

Requirements

  • Must have active Top Secret/SCI clearance with NSA Full Scope Polygraph
  • Twenty (20) years of experience in software development/engineering, including requirements analysis, software development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, testing, and problem diagnosis/resolution
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required
  • Five (5) years of additional software engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree
  • Willingness to be a committer/contributor to open source applications
  • Experience in Java programming for distributed systems, that includes networking and multi-threading
  • Strong Java developer that also has the following background: Kubernetes, Hadoop, MariaDB (or similar), Map Reduce programming model (such as Hadoop, Hive, or Pig), Docker, Python, and Ansible
  • Knowledge of Linux OS development, Docker, Kubernetes, Python, and Ansible

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement software applications, services, and system components
  • Participate in requirements analysis, architecture design, and technical solution development
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code using modern programming languages and frameworks
  • Perform unit testing, integration testing, debugging, and performance tuning
  • Support deployment activities, including CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including systems engineers, cybersecurity staff, and stakeholders
  • Implement secure coding practices and comply with applicable security and compliance standards
  • Maintain documentation, version control, and configuration management for developed software
  • Provide sustainment support, including troubleshooting, patching, and enhancements
