Essential Responsibilities: The Software Engineer 2 job duties include the following:

Requirements

  • This position requires a Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or Computer Engineering and two (2) years of related software engineering experience.
  • Must also have the following experience:
  • Two years of experience working with the following programming languages: Python, Go and TypeScript.
  • Two years of experience with Machine Learning application development or platform engineering.
  • Two years of experience utilizing the following tools/technologies/skills: Containerization and IAC (Infra as Code) technologies with at least one of the major Cloud providers; security protocols including TLS and SSH; data systems such as Kafka, Spark, ELK; and CI/CD, DevOps and SRE tool chains such as Kubernetes, Istio, Helm and terraform.
  • Two years of experience with software lifecycle; data and ML product delivery; software engineering principles; agile practice.
  • Two years of experience with backend application development; frontend development using React, microservices; and with protocols such as websocket, gRPC and REST.
  • Hands on experience developing and deploying multi-tenancy stateful chatbots and conversational agents using Azure OpenAI, Chainlit, and LangChain/LangGraph, integrating with internal services to enhance user interaction with AI-driven tools; utilizing vector storage to implement RAG feature for chatbot; experienced in LLM guardrails implementation.
  • Will accept experience gained before, during or after Master’s program.

Responsibilities

  • Modernize and maintain the U.S. Bank AI/ML platform by integrating and customizing Open-Source solutions such Kubeflow, LangChain, Jupyter Hub, and Jupyter Lab.
  • Deploy and manage AI/ML applications using Microsoft Azure Cloud infrastructure, including Azure Virtual Machines (VMs), Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), and tools like Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
  • Implement secure authentication and authorization using OAuth2, Azure Active Directory (Azure AD), JWT, and ensure role-based access control (RBAC) for AI/ML tools and workflows.
  • Develop and maintain REST APIs using frameworks like Flask, Django, FastAPI, and Gin Framework to integrate with external services and provide scalable solutions.
  • Collaborate with Data Scientists to productionalize models using tools like Kubeflow and custom extensions developed with LangChain SDK.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD, Terraform, and Jenkins, automating deployment processes for AI/ML applications on Azure.
  • Manage data storage and caching solutions using PostgreSQL, Azure SQL Database, MySQL, and Redis for high-performance data handling and scalability.
  • Develop and deploy chatbots and conversational agents using Azure OpenAI, Chainlit, and LangChain, integrating with internal services to enhance user interaction with AI-driven tools.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and business lines, ensuring effective architecture and design while communicating findings clearly to both technical and non-technical partners.
  • Support a platform for distributed data processing and analytics using tools like Apache Spark to handle large datasets and real-time data streams.
  • Understand the capabilities and limitations of existing algorithms and models and evolve them to satisfy future product requirements.
  • Adhere to best practices for development within the Agile framework and follow the SDLC process.
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code in Python, Go and TypeScript.
  • Implement the fundamental building blocks along with working examples to deliver the platform-level capabilities as planned.
  • Build Near Real Time event-based platform using Kafka.
