The AI Applied Engineering team (part of Microsoft’s CoreAI organization) has the mission to co-innovate customer solutions and improve Microsoft’s AI platforms by applying them to real-world customer scenarios. We build and infuse AI technologies into end-to-end solutions for strategic enterprise customers and ISVs. Using Azure AI services like Agentic frameworks, LLMs, Speech, Search and advanced techniques like model Fine Tuning and Evaluations along with Azure’s cloud infrastructure, we deliver AI-powered APIs, models, services and solutions that solve business-critical problems. Insights from these projects directly inform and enhance Microsoft’s core AI platform, making our products more robust and scalable for all customers. Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C#, Java, or Python OR equivalent experience.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C#, Java, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C#, Java, or Python
• Experience with Generative AI, OpenAI GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) models, Agentic workflows, prompt engineering, Azure AI Services, and Machine Learning techniques.

• Own technical delivery across multiple deployments from first prototype to stable production.

• Embed closely with customer teams, understand their needs, and guide adoption of what you build.
• Rapidly learn new concepts and technologies; apply to your solutions.
• Scope work, sequence delivery, and remove blockers early.
• Make trade-offs between scope, speed, and quality; adjust plans to protect delivery.
• Contribute directly to the code when progress or clarity depends on it.
• Codify working patterns into tools, playbooks, or components that others can use.
• Keep teams moving through clarity and follow-through.
