About The Position

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is seeking a highly experienced Senior Director to lead a foundational OCI service – Virtual Networking Dataplane. VCN Dataplane is central to almost every OCI strategic initiative. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the strategy, design, delivery, and operational excellence of software components of VCN Dataplane – the networking virtualization stack for OCI. You will lead a highly technical geographically distributed team, partner with key stakeholders across OCI to deliver on OCI’s strategic initiatives. The position demands a seasoned professional who embodies OCI values and can navigate complex challenges to deliver exceptional outcomes. Responsibilities As a Senior Director of the software engineering division, you will apply your extensive knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to current and future design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and envision improvements to the architecture. As a leader accountable for one of OCI’s foundational service, you will: Define product strategy and roadmap by partnering with the product management and Senior leaders including SVPs across OCI. Represent your organization at the VP and SVP level. Use the experience and expertise to operate large scale software fleets to ensure the services meet the OCI scale. Collaborate with your team, peers, various organizations, and senior leadership to identify product and customer requirements, coordinate delivery, and integrate solutions to meet the business needs. Recruit and continue to build out a capable and cohesive engineering team who can deliver complex projects on time. Your ability to influence other teams is a key to your success in this role.

Requirements

  • A BS or MS degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in people management, with a proven track record in managing large-scale critical service.
  • Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning, resource management, and performance optimization within a technology-driven environment.
  • Exceptional decision-making abilities, with experience influencing senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong background in recruiting, developing, and leading senior individual contributors (ICs) and building high-performing teams.
  • Ability to make decisions that significantly impact the organization’s infrastructure, with potential implications for revenue and long-term operational success.
  • Expertise in low-level programming languages (C/C+) and Distributed Systems.
  • Experience in Networking and Cloud Infrastructure Operations
  • Experience in managing a large-scale critical service in a Cloud computing

  • Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
