We build software driving the evolution of all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help. We are looking for a high caliber Software Development Manager to lead our Replenishment Planning team. Who would succeed in this role: Deeply technical leaders, who stay close to the customer as well as the architecture and design. A leader who can coach their team on developing systems at scale and for the right customer experience, and who reaches out across the company to enlist input from key engineers, supply chain specialists, and research scientists to leverage the experience of the broader team. A person who dives deep in to a problem to deeply understand how things work, when to make subtle change, and when to disrupt the status quo to achieve the right results. What’s the challenge: We are still in our early stages; the space is fast-moving, and has a large number of ambiguous and difficult challenges. You will manage a team of highly skilled software developers. You will propose, influence, and lead high impact projects that span multiple organizations. You will influence the vision for your team, and will lead them to deliver on our multi-year roadmap.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience
  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Contribute to and lead design, architecture, process and development discussions.
  • Argue for the right outcomes with data, conviction and diplomacy.
  • Build scalable mechanisms to audit and inspect highly cross functional initiatives spanning operations, supply chain specialists, software engineers.
  • Drive product strategy, roadmap, and stakeholder engagement.
