About The Position

Amazon Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Have you wanted an opportunity to develop the software applications and services for an advanced global telecom service? The Leo Customer Engagement Systems team owns all the software and services to manage a customer's life cycle. Our team owns developing the architecture, solutions & roadmap for managing the customer lifecycle for telecom services; for example identity and account management, subscriber management services, user provisioning, billing and payments, customer and technical support tools, offer management tools, and customer metrics and analytics. As the Software Development Manager you will lead a team of engineers to solve these problems. You will work with Product Management and Business Stakeholders on defining the roadmap for Leo's customer lifecycle. You will own solving this for multiple customer segments and building software that is flexible for many different customers and countries. The Leo Customer Experience team will own delivering delightful, consistent interfaces across the Leo application, Leo website, and .com, including the interplay between our app, customer terminal (CT), and the Indoor Unit (IDU).

Requirements

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience
  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams
  • Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
