About The Position
Keller Executive Search is seeking a dynamic Software Development Manager to lead a talented engineering team dedicated to advancing AI-driven software products in the defense sector. In this role, you will oversee software development projects from conception through deployment, ensuring high-quality deliverables that meet stringent regulatory and performance standards. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product management, AI researchers, and hardware engineers to drive innovation and maintain agile development practices within the team. The Software Development Manager will be critical in mentoring engineers, managing resources and schedules, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence within the software organization.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software development experience with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role
- Strong background in full software development lifecycle management in regulated industries such as defense, aerospace, or similar sectors
- Experience managing teams of software engineers and coordinating cross-functional projects
- Proficiency with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
- Familiarity with programming languages commonly used in AI and embedded systems (e.g., Python, C++, Java)
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment focused on mission-critical products

- Knowledge of AI, computer vision, or autonomous systems development
- Master's degree in Computer Science or related discipline
- Understanding of compliance requirements such as ITAR and cybersecurity standards
