About The Position

As part of the AWS Applied AI Solutions organization, we have a vision to provide business applications, leveraging Amazon’s unique experience and expertise, that are used by millions of companies worldwide to manage day-to-day operations. We will accomplish this by accelerating our customers’ businesses through delivery of intuitive and differentiated technology solutions that solve enduring business challenges. We blend vision with curiosity and Amazon’s real-world experience to build opinionated, turnkey solutions. Where customers prefer to buy over build, we become their trusted partner with solutions that are no-brainers to buy and easy to use. Amazon Simple Email Service (SES) is on a mission to revolutionize email experiences for our customers and their end users. We are at the forefront of creating richer, more engaging email functionalities, innovating at every step to provide a seamless, unified experience. In the SES team, you will be responsible for a fast-growing program with broad-reaching and a service wide impact. As a member of the SES engineering team, your job will allow you to work with customers and other technology leaders at Amazon to help translate strategic business needs into features and projects. You will then work with your team to deliver those features and projects more quickly than many people may think is possible. We are seeking a hands-on engineering manager for a mid-sized team, with the experience and familiarity in designing, building, and operating large-scale web, fault-tolerant, and distributed systems. You will be leading a team of SDEs and directing their work to ensure the team delivers the right quality, functions, and features required for the latest in email technology. Leaders in this role are expected to model the responsible use of AI in planning and operations, reinforce mechanisms that embed intelligent tooling into day-to-day engineering practices, and coach teams to apply AI-first problem-solving mindsets while maintaining high judgment, operational rigor, and ownership of outcomes. Leadership and Culture-Building: As a leader, you'll cultivate a culture of creativity and openness. Your decisions will guide the team's direction, encouraging innovation and growth. A key part of your role is to mentor and develop a diverse team, fostering an environment of knowledge sharing and professional growth. On-Call Responsibility: This position involves on-call responsibilities. We don’t like being paged in the middle of the night or on the weekend, so we work to ensure that our systems are fault-tolerant. When we do get paged, we work together to resolve the root cause so that we aren’t paged for the same issue twice.
