The Health AI organization at Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Software Development Manager (SDM) to lead the AWS HealthImaging team, a new HIPAA-eligible service designed to assist healthcare and life science organizations in storing, analyzing, and sharing medical imaging data at a petabyte scale. This role is pivotal in helping customers reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) of medical imaging applications by up to 40% by leveraging cloud technology. The SDM will oversee a small, agile team of software development engineers (SDEs) in Santa Clara, focusing on defining, building, and operating the DICOM compliance for the service. As the founding leader of this team, the SDM will be responsible for evolving the team's charter, establishing best practices, and building relationships with partner AWS service teams. In this role, the SDM will collaborate closely with the product team to define a mix of standards-based and AWS native interfaces that facilitate low latency imaging search, retrieval, and editing operations. The SDM will ensure that customers can efficiently integrate their standards-based medical imaging workflows with AWS HealthImaging, as well as their machine learning and next-generation medical imaging workflows. This position requires a strong background in engineering practices and patterns, as well as experience in managing engineering teams and projects related to data pipelines and medical imaging standards. AWS values diverse experiences and encourages candidates from all backgrounds to apply, even if they do not meet all preferred qualifications. The company promotes a culture of work-life balance, inclusivity, and continuous learning, providing resources for mentorship and career growth. The SDM will play a crucial role in fostering an inclusive team culture and ensuring that the team is equipped to meet the challenges of developing innovative solutions in the healthcare domain.
