About The Position

Leidos is seeking a university student to join our Orland-based team as a Software Development Intern supporting our application integration efforts. This internship offers an opportunity to work with experienced software engineers, system architects, and data modelers as they design and develop tools and techniques for connecting large enterprise systems. You will gain experience working with industry-standard HR and ERP systems as well as modern, cutting-edge AI/ML toolsets. We welcome applicants from a variety of academic backgrounds who have strong interest or experience developing the software that binds a large organization together. This role emphasizes self-guided research, hands-on prototype development.

Requirements

U.S. citizenship
Actively enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited university
Strong interest in or exposure to software or database development
Familiarity with one or more modern programming languages (Python, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, etc.)

Nice To Haves

Coursework, projects or hands-on experience in areas such as: API Development
Data engineering or data wrangling
Database scripting (MySQL, PL-SQL, T-SQL, stored procedure development, etc.)
Creative problem-solving skills and eagerness to work on exploratory efforts

Responsibilities

Support software development teams in writing, debugging, and analyzing code in a variety of settings (web code, API interfaces, data integration pipelines, test code, and more)
Research new tools, techniques, code libraries, etc. to discover what they do, how they are used, and what potential value they may provide the organization
Develop prototype applications to demonstrate new technologies
