About The Position

CVS Health’s Adjudication & Client Experience Engineering organization is seeking a highly skilled Software Development Engineer to join their Application Production Support Team. This role provides Level 1–3 support for critical myPBM business applications, ensuring the reliability, stability, and continuous improvement of systems serving PBM (Pharmacy Benefit Management) business customers. The Software Development Engineer will collaborate with fellow engineers, product, design, and operational teams to triage, troubleshoot, and resolve daily production issues. Key responsibilities include addressing application incidents, identifying root causes, implementing permanent fixes, and driving process improvements to reduce recurring issues, thereby supporting business continuity, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence of digital platforms. In addition to support, the role involves facilitating break-fix for existing codebases to enhance application stability, scalability, and performance as membership and transaction volumes grow. This includes designing and implementing new features, contributing to technical architecture, and advancing the engineering roadmap across adjudication and client experience systems. The position requires strong technical expertise, solid problem-solving skills, and effective collaboration in a high-demand production environment, guiding technical direction, contributing to engineering innovation, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality digital solutions.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in application production support (Level 1–3), incident management, and troubleshooting of enterprise systems.
  • 3 + years of experience in a technical lead role.
  • 7+ years of Software Development Engineering experience using COBOL, SQL, DB2 for OS/390, PL/I, IBM MQSeries experience
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools, logging frameworks, and IT operations processes.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in healthcare, pharmacy benefits management, or similar regulated industries.
  • Experience with automation, monitoring, and incident management tools.
  • Experience with RxClaim or other PBM Adjudication system.
  • Knowledge of HA software and Replication Tools (DB2 Mirror, MIMIX, iTera, OMS, etc.)
  • Synon experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide Level 1–3 application production support for Consumer Drive Healthcare business customers, including monitoring, incident resolution, and proactive system health checks.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot complex application and systems issues; perform root cause analysis and implement long-term corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, QA, operations, and business teams to ensure timely and accurate resolution of production incidents.
  • Recommend code fix, optimization, and improvements to the existing codebases to enhance system reliability, stability, and scalability.
  • Perform debugging, and validation across distributed application environments.
  • Participate in on-call rotations as needed to support critical production services.
  • Contribute to the technical roadmap, driving innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering ecosystem.
  • Document solutions, operational procedures, and knowledge-base articles to support cross-team learning and operational excellence.
