As a Software Development Engineer supporting Workday, you will play a pivotal role in modernizing our enterprise systems by building and maintaining integrations between Workday and other platforms. You’ll be part of a dynamic team focused on delivering secure, scalable, and efficient solutions that support our Financial and HR operations. This role can be hired into as a Level III or IV, depending upon experience. This is a hybrid role located on our campus in Mountlake Terrace, Washington.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems, or related field. (Required for Level III and IV)
  • (5) years of software development experience, knowledge of the software development lifecycle, and skills to utilize one or more programming languages. (Required for Level III)
  • (8) years of software development experience, knowledge of the software development lifecycle, and skills to utilize one or more programming languages. (Required for Level IV)

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in enterprise application development, including at least 3 years in Workday engineering.
  • Proficiency in Workday tools such as Workday Studio, Workday Extend, and EIB.
  • Strong experience with RESTful APIs and integration frameworks.
  • Familiarity with full-stack development languages such as C#, Java, or PeopleCode.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Workday, Oracle Fusion, etc.) and SaaS-based ERP systems.
  • Highly proficient skill and knowledge in developing systems and applications to solve business problems in a variety of situations.
  • Successful development and deployment of technology solutions.
  • High quality application of systems coding and development tools and techniques.
  • Strong systems knowledge as well as application of best practices.
  • Ability to adapt rapidly to new technologies and products.
  • Ability to continually improve technical knowledge and skills and share technical knowledge with others.
  • Ability to play a lead role when needed related to technology development and deployment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and good presentation skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert for Workday integrations and configurations.
  • Design, develop, and maintain Workday Extend applications and custom reports.
  • Build and support integrations between Workday and third-party systems using RESTful APIs, Workday Studio, and other tools.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions aligned with business needs.
  • Participate in release planning, validation, and deployment activities for Workday updates.
  • Maintain documentation for integrations, configurations, and support procedures.
  • Consult with business partners and IT leaders to assist in identifying and understanding problems or improvement opportunities and recommend appropriate technologies, software, and system solutions that scale and perform.
  • Consider a system-wide, architectural view of solutions.
  • Analyze moderate to high-risk business needs to determine solutions.
  • Design solutions on various platforms by studying requirements and information needs and recommending solution alternatives.
  • Use a variety of system design techniques including prototype, proof of concept, and reference implementation.
  • Design solutions that consider cross-system integration and dependencies.
  • Develop and modify code and system set-up based on program specifications using multiple programming languages or system platforms.
  • Apply CICD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment).
  • Constantly improve systems.
  • Provide technical advice and support to other staff members.
  • Perform testing using both unit testing test automation and document test results.
  • Participate in testing associated with cross-functional project team efforts.
  • Produce appropriate technical documentation and notifications for changes to production systems or fixes to production problems.
  • Create SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle) artifacts.
  • Analyze moderate to high-risk production problems, assess alternatives, and work with team to implement solutions. Includes performance tuning, technical troubleshooting, debugging, call-rotation, and root cause analysis.
  • Support project initiatives collaborating with the rest of the design team and stakeholders ensuring that development milestones and deadlines are met.
  • Provide feedback on peer designs in an open and collaborative environment.
  • Provide input to standardization of IT processes and ensure application of IT standard processes and requirements.
  • Apply engineering best practices.
