As a Software Development Engineer IV on the DataHub team, you are highly motivated, customer-obsessed, and team-oriented, and get excited by the idea of solving hard technical challenges. In this role you will collaborate with multiple teams to coordinate and extract the information needed to bring features to life. You will work to understand data needs, define stories, and work with our Capability Management Team to help develop compelling solutions for Premera. This will be a hybrid role located on our campus in Mountlake Terrace, WA.

  • Consult with business partners and IT leaders to assist in identifying and understanding problems or improvement opportunities and recommend appropriate technologies, software, and system solutions that scale and perform.
  • Consider a system-wide, architectural view of solutions.
  • Analyze moderate to high-risk business needs to determine solutions.
  • Design solutions on various platforms by studying requirements and information needs and recommending solution alternatives.
  • Use a variety of system design techniques including prototype, proof of concept, and reference implementation.
  • Design solutions that consider cross-system integration and dependencies.
  • Develop and modify code and system set-up based on program specifications using multiple programming languages or system platforms.
  • Apply CICD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment).
  • Constantly improve systems and provide technical advice and support to other staff members.
  • Perform testing using both unit testing test automation and document test results.
  • Participate in testing associated with cross-functional project team efforts.
  • Produce appropriate technical documentation and notifications for changes to production systems or fixes to production problems.
  • Create SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle) artifacts.
  • Analyze moderate to high-risk production problems, assess alternatives, and work with team to implement solutions.
  • Support project initiatives collaborating with the rest of the design team and stakeholders ensuring that development milestones and deadlines are met.
  • Provide feedback on peer designs in an open and collaborative environment.
  • Act as technical resource for team and share knowledge across Premera's developer community.
  • Collaborate with relevant personnel across Premera.
  • May mentor or advise less experienced staff.
  • Provide input to standardization of IT processes and ensure application of IT standard processes and requirements.
  • Apply engineering best practices.
  • Participate in educational opportunities to build new and additional skills and maintain technical knowledge while staying current with trends and opportunities in the field and share knowledge gained with teammates.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in data ingestion and processing, metadata management, data platforms, and operations and monitoring.
  • Experience with .NET, REST API, and Microsoft technologies like Cosmos DB.
  • Experience in the healthcare industry or a highly regulated environment.
  • Technical knowledge and experience with specific technical tools used at Premera (i.e., Facets).
  • Previous experience in an agile environment.
  • Experience using and creating automated test tools.
  • Knowledge of AI integration tools like Power Automate and working experience with agenting AI.
  • Familiarity with data analytics tools such as SQL, Document DB (Mongo), and Azure.
