About The Position

The CoreMotion Motion & Interaction team has created innovative ways for users to interact with their devices through motion. When you play games by simply moving your devices or use the compass to find your way it's the work of engineers and scientists on this team. Join CoreMotion and work with the people who have created the sensor fusion technologies and motion gestures that power games augmented reality and numerous other features on Apple's devices. CoreMotion team is looking for a talented Software Engineer to test and validate CoreMotion features. We work in an energizing environment that is fast-paced and relies heavily on a tight relationship between test and development. As a CoreMotion engineer, you will have the unique and rewarding opportunity to shape and improve the software that allows our products to delight and inspire millions of Apple's customers every day.

Requirements

• BS or higher in CS, EE, ME or other related fields
• 5+ years relevant experience in the industry, Prior experience in one or more of the following domain: sensor fusion, control design, signal processing, machine learning, robotics, AR/VR, inertial sensors
• Experience working at the intersection of HW/SW
• Proficient at programming in one or more of the following languages: Python, C/C++, Swift

Nice To Haves

• Ability to work in dynamic environment with shifting priorities and schedules
• Creative thinker and strong problem solver with meticulous attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience working with smartphones, fitness trackers, headphones, etc. on sensor technologies is a plus

Responsibilities

• In this role, you will be involved in user studies and data collection, design reviews, algorithm validation and characterization, feature performance assessment and feature KPIs and metrics.
• Design and develop algorithm simulation tooling and analysis pipeline
• Develop KPIs and performance metrics to assess the performance of algorithms.
• Come up with KPI targets for best in class user-experience
• Design and conduct tests, experiments and user studies for algorithm verification and validation
• Drive investigation and analysis of issues spanning across the various SW layers
• Own overall testing, validation and characterization of features/algorithms for which you are responsible
• Work closely with development, project management and cross-functional parters to drive excellent quality aligned with release schedules
• Communicate with upstream component (e.g. Hardware) and downstream component (e.g. App) to drive end to end user experience
