Software Development Engineer III: Expedia Technology teams partner with our Product teams to create innovative products, services, and tools to deliver high-quality experiences for travelers, partners, and our employees. We are seeking an established Software Development Engineer who consistently applies software engineering principles to business contexts, leads small, well-defined projects and continues as a supporting player on complex projects, and actively identifies inefficiencies in existing systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience designing and developing services or components, including API design and data modeling.
  • Proficiency with at least one modern programming language and familiarity with development tools and workflows.
  • Familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products.

  • Experience connecting project work to team and business goals and providing clear, timely status updates.
  • Experience building and supporting software in a distributed, cloud-based environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive improvements in system reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Exposure to integrating AI/ML capabilities into existing products or workflows.
  • Strong data-driven problem-solving skills and a commitment to operational excellence.
  • Experience designing APIs and data models that enable feature growth and cross-domain functionality.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable software solutions across multiple domains, ensuring high performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end features, from low-level design (LLD) and API development to data modeling and deployment.
  • Write clean, testable, and efficient code, adhering to best practices and code quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues in complex distributed systems.
  • Safely integrate and operate AI/ML-enabled solutions that improve outcomes and support business objectives.
  • Demonstrate adaptability by working effectively across front-end, back-end, and cloud-based environments.
