As a Full Stack Software Development Engineer III on EG Advertising, you will work on a platform that sits at the center of Expedia Group’s advertising growth strategy. This role will help power the next phase of that growth by building scalable, low-latency systems and intelligent ad experiences that expand inventory, improve relevance, and help EG Advertising achieve ambitious revenue goals across onsite, partner, and off-platform channels. You will contribute to systems that support the full advertising lifecycle, from partner-facing tools and campaign management to ad retrieval, bidding, ranking, delivery, reporting, and measurement. This is a role for an engineer who wants to solve meaningful problems at scale, where strong execution, thoughtful system design, and ML-driven relevance all directly shape traveler experience, partner value, and business growth.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience.
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Professional software development experience building and maintaining services or applications, with ownership of features or services in production environments.
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language and core computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, design, and problem solving), including experience with system design (LLD), API design, and data modeling.
• Experience owning the full software development lifecycle for services or applications, including design, implementation, code reviews, testing, deployment, and monitoring, including familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products at a foundational level.

Nice To Haves

• Proficiency with Kotlin or other JVM-based languages (for example, Java), with experience building scalable, production-grade backend systems using microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Experience building or operating ad servers, ad bidders, ad selection or ranking systems, campaign delivery systems, or other ad tech / programmatic advertising platforms, or similarly complex recommendation or ML-driven decisioning systems at scale.
• Experience designing and operating high-throughput, low-latency distributed services in production, with strong focus on observability, reliability, and performance optimization.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, ideally including serverless patterns and infrastructure-as-code tools such as CloudFormation.
• Experience with modern software delivery practices, including containerized deployments (for example, Docker and Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines, and test automation.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with Data Scientists and apply AI/ML in real-world systems, including integrating models into production services or developing new data-driven features that improve relevance, personalization, or operational outcomes.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, including experience mentoring junior engineers, leading small technical projects, and influencing technical decisions and engineering best practices within a team.

• Design, implement, and maintain robust, secure, and scalable services and applications, including system design (LLD), API design, and data modeling to support business-critical capabilities across multiple domains.
• Write clean, reliable, and well-tested code, applying sound engineering principles, design patterns, and code review practices to improve quality, performance, and maintainability for complex systems.
• Own end-to-end delivery of features and services, from technical design and implementation through deployment, monitoring, and iteration, ensuring high availability and operational excellence.
• Diagnose and resolve complex production issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive long-term improvements in reliability, observability, and resilience across services and dependencies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners, contributing technical expertise to product discovery, backlog prioritization, and data-driven decision making while ensuring solutions are reusable and fungible across multiple domains.
• Safely integrate and operate AI/ML‑enabled solutions that improve outcomes, including familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products.
