About The Position

Zappos is seeking a Software Development Engineer III to enhance the catalog experience through technical decisions and implementations. This role involves collaboration with product managers, software engineers, and UX designers to develop innovative solutions in a fast-paced environment, focusing on customer-centric outcomes.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; college degree in a related field preferred.
• At least seven (7) years of professional experience in software development in Java 8+.
• Strong skills in Spring Framework.
• Experience with AWS technologies including DynamoDB, Lambda, ECS, SQS, SNS, and S3.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Deep understanding of scalable computing systems, software architecture, data structures, and algorithms.
• Experience with relational and/or non-relational databases.
• Proven track record in designing, building, delivering, and troubleshooting complex service-oriented systems.
• Strong analytical skills and excellent problem-solving abilities.
• Passion for technical leadership and mentoring.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with CI/CD automation.
• Experience with front-end development.
• Experience with NextJs/React/Svelte.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Java-based applications utilizing AWS services (Lambda/ECS/SQS/S3/DynamoDB).
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and UX designers to optimize customer experiences.
• Mentor junior developers and provide feedback to elevate coding standards.
• Drive architecture and technology choices for effective code implementation.
• Identify customer problems and implement scalable solutions.
