Introduction to the team Enterprise Data Product at Expedia Group builds innovative products, services, and tools to deliver high-quality data experiences for travelers, partners, and our internal teams. In this role, you will: Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain software services and components that contribute to Expedia Group’s customer and partner experiences Implement clean, maintainable code in collaboration with peers, using modern engineering practices, code reviews, and version control to ensure high-quality delivery Participate in system design, including low-level design (LLD), API design, and data modeling, to build scalable, reliable, and observable systems and services Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the software development lifecycle, contributing to incident resolution, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement of service reliability Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, break down work into executable tasks, and deliver features that can be reused across multiple domains and products Safely integrate and operate AI/ML enabled solutions that improve outcomes, including familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience
  • 2+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Experience owning components or services within a broader system, including responsibility for implementation quality, basic operational support, and participation in on-call or incident response as appropriate
  • Proficiency in core computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design) and in designing and consuming APIs and data models
  • Familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and ability to safely integrate AI/ML enabled capabilities into existing services under guidance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing and implementing low-level designs, APIs, and data models for services that operate at scale, including considerations for performance, reliability, and observability
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to architecture discussions within a team or domain, including evaluating tradeoffs, proposing technical approaches, and aligning with established patterns
  • Experience integrating or extending AI/ML enabled capabilities in production systems in a safe, compliant, and cost-effective way, such as using AI-driven tools for testing, coding assistance, or personalization features
  • Exposure to working across multiple product or service domains, with demonstrated adaptability to new technologies, stacks, or problem spaces and a growing ability to apply AI/ML concepts to real world products
  • Strong understanding of batch + incremental processing patterns, including backfills, data quality validation, and failure recovery
  • Ability to build and evolve data pipelines with high data quality standards, including validation, lineage, and SLA management
  • Experience working with distributed data systems (e.g., Spark, Trino, Iceberg) and optimizing for performance and cost
  • Familiarity with API-first or data-as-a-product approaches, enabling reusable and discoverable datasets
  • Familiarity with streaming technologies like Apache Kafka or Apache Flink
