About The Position

Bowhead seeks a Software Developer to provide advanced data modernization, analytics, and process‑improvement support to a U.S. Army Security Assistance Management Directorate (SAMD), responsible for enterprise‑level planning, reporting, and programmatic oversight. This position plays a critical role in transforming legacy processes, reforming performance metrics, and implementing modern reporting solutions that enhance decision‑making across the directorate, its branches, and coordinating organizations such as the ICO, PEOs, and USASAC. The Software Developer will leverage Power BI, modern reporting tools, and emerging technologies to streamline workflows, improve data accuracy, and support the directorate’s transition toward more efficient, transparent, and data‑driven operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2-5+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience developing dashboards and data products using Power BI or similar business intelligence tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data sets, identify trends, and translate findings into actionable insights.
  • Experience improving business processes, workflows, or reporting structures within a government or DoD environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage taskers, competing priorities, and time‑sensitive requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.

  • Familiarity with Army programmatic structures, FMS processes, or enterprise‑level reporting is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Modernize existing business processes by identifying inefficiencies, recommending improvements, and implementing updated workflows aligned with evolving mission needs.
  • Conduct deep‑dive analysis of current metrics and performance goals. Redesign and streamline metrics into a more manageable, accurate, and mission‑aligned structure.
  • Revise metrics into new business practices with integration to ICO, PEOs, and other mission partners.
  • Manage, track, and thoughtfully action taskers, ensuring timely responses and maintaining visibility of all assigned requirements.
  • Harness directorate data effectively by establishing sound data‑governance practices and ensuring data is used appropriately for reporting and decision‑making.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance Power BI dashboards, automated reports, and other analytical tools to support directorate‑wide modernization efforts, with future expansion into AI‑enabled capabilities as applicable.
  • Maintain awareness of both enterprise‑level and branch‑level operations to ensure reporting solutions accurately reflect mission realities and support leadership needs.
  • Coordinate with USASAC and other stakeholders to ensure alignment of FMS programmatic components within directorate reporting structures.
  • Provide feedback on programmatic data to improve metric alignment, accuracy, and relevance.
  • Implement and maintain directorate‑wide trackers to improve visibility of ongoing actions, performance indicators, and mission impacts.
  • Actively report on metrics, identify trends, and communicate potential mission impacts to leadership in a clear, actionable manner.
