About The Position

The Senior Software Developer (ServiceNow ITSM) provides expert-level design, configuration, and customization of IT Service Management (ITSM) workflows for the Army National Guard (ARNG). This role supports 24/7/365 NOC and SOC operations by implementing ITIL-aligned processes for Incident, Problem, Change, and Request Management. The developer builds advanced automations, routing logic, SLA tracking, and Service Catalog capabilities to enhance enterprise service delivery. As a senior technical contributor, this position leads major technology assignments, supports cross-team initiatives, and may supervise junior developers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of enterprise IT experience with hands-on software development responsibilities.
  • Strong expertise configuring ServiceNow ITSM modules and related workflows.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, ServiceNow scripting, Flow Designer, and catalog development.
  • Deep understanding of ITIL processes, SLAs, and operational requirements for NOC/SOC environments.
  • Experience designing automated workflows, routing logic, and platform customizations.
  • Ability to lead complex solution development efforts and support cross-team initiatives.
  • Strong communication, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
  • Required Certifications: CSA and CAD.

Nice To Haves

  • ServiceNow CIS‑ITSM certification.
  • Experience integrating ServiceNow with external systems via REST APIs.
  • Familiarity with secure coding practices and DoD development standards.
  • Knowledge of enterprise ITSM, monitoring, and operations environments.
  • Experience mentoring junior developers or leading small technical teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and configure ServiceNow ITSM workflows for Incident, Problem, Change, and Request Management.
  • Implement ITIL‑aligned processes supporting 24/7/365 NOC and SOC operational requirements.
  • Build automated routing, escalation rules, notifications, and SLA tracking mechanisms.
  • Design and configure Service Catalog items, fulfillment workflows, and approval processes.
  • Lead major technical initiatives, serving as an expert across multiple project assignments.
  • Conduct code reviews, perform unit testing, and ensure development best practices.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to validate requirements and deliver scalable ServiceNow solutions.
  • May supervise junior developers and provide technical mentorship.
