Smartoptics provides innovative optical networking solutions for a new era of open networking. We focus on solving network challenges and increasing the competitiveness of our customers. Our customer base includes cable and telecom operators, cloud providers, Internet exchanges, governments, and thousands of enterprises. The candidate will be part of the agile R&D team developing complete systems including both hardware and software. For our Kista office, we are looking for a Software Developer to join our R&D team. You will work with backend, frontend, and data streaming solutions to build robust, scalable systems for telemetry, monitoring, and analytics. To succeed in this role, you should have experience in software development across multiple layers of the stack and be passionate about building reliable, secure, and observable systems. We are working in agile teams of 5-8 people consisting of software and hardware developers, system testers, and Scrum Masters. Some possibility for work from home is available, but most days we work in our office in Kista, Stockholm.

  • Good communication skills in English and Swedish
  • Knowledge of modern networking and telemetry protocols, e.g. gNMI/gRPC, YANG models
  • Experience with data collection and streaming platforms like gnmic, Apache Kafka
  • Strong backend development skills in Python and API frameworks, e.g. FastAPI
  • Familiarity with time-series databases, e.g. TimescaleDB
  • Frontend experience with React and real-time data visualization
  • Understanding of DevOps practices, e.g. containerization (Docker), CI/CD, observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana)
  • Awareness of secure development practices and testing methods, e.g. least privilege, RBAC
  • Swedish citizenship or permanent residence, EU citizenship, or full right to work without requiring visa sponsorship
  • Knowledge of different protocols e.g. OSPF, IP, SNMP and NETConf
  • Experience of working with telecom or other network products
  • Experience of working with fiberoptics
