About The Position

ASRC Federal's Summer Technology Readiness Intern Development Experience (STRIDE) offers undergraduate college students the chance to apply their technological interests and knowledge to exciting real-world missions. We are seeking a Software Developer intern to support our Transportation Security Administration (TSA) customer. This is a temporary, hybrid position located in Reston, VA Work location: Hybrid (1-2 days onsite) in our corporate office in Reston, VA. Background investigation:  Must be a US Citizen to successfully complete a government issued background check (must have lived continuously in the continental United States for the past three years). Program dates: 10-week summer internship, June 1 - August 6, 2026 Hours:   32 hours per week Summary: This internship will assist with ongoing operations, maintenance, and next-generation software development for kiosk and automated e-gate systems. This internship blends hands-on hardware exposure, field experience, and real-world software engineering work-ideal for Computer Science students seeking both technical depth and operational insight. Education: Currently enrolled and pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or other relevant studies. Must be a current junior, senior or graduate student in college at the time of application submittal.

Requirements

  • Experience with Java and familiarity with Spring.
  • Knowledge of Git or similar version control tools.
  • Strong analytical skills and willingness to learn in both software and field-operational settings.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to .NET, REST APIs, or systems integration.
  • Interest in biometrics, airport systems, or hardware/software interfacing.

Responsibilities

  • Hardware O&M Support:
  • Assist the team in resolving hardware-related service tickets.
  • Coordinate replacement parts shipments or schedule field technicians for onsite repairs.
  • Track ticket status and help maintain documentation.
  • Field Experience:
  • Accompany senior technicians to Reagan National Airport to observe live kiosk operations.
  • Learn how systems function in the field, including troubleshooting and customer interactions.
  • Software Development:
  • Contribute to kiosk and enterprise software used across multiple partner organizations.
  • Work with tools including Java, Spring, .NET, Git, and standard development pipelines.
